Surgery

Professor Achille Lucio Gaspari was born on the 16th of October 1946 in Rome. He is the Chairman of General Surgery Department at Tor Vergata University of Rome and affiliated Hospitals Organizations. Since 2007 he is the Program Director of the Surgical Residency at the same University and since 1992 he is Full Professor of General Surgery. From 2002 to 2009 he was the Chief of Residency Training Program in Gastrointestinal Surgery and Surgical Digestive Endoscopy  of  Tor Vergata University.  Since 1996, he has been also the Chairman of the PhD program in Robotics and Surgical Sciences, and since 1994, the Director of the Surgical Education and Research Laboratory at Tor Vergata University.

He graduated in 1971 at “La Sapienza” University in Rome, in Medicine with summa cum laude and in 1975 he achieved the post-graduate training in General Surgery  and Cardiovascular Surgery.  In 2004 he had a Master certification in Health Economics. From 1982 to 1986 he was Associate Professor of Microsurgery at La Sapienza University.  Since 1997  he has been Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and currently he is the National Italian Governor of ACS.  He was awarded in 1998 by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons as honorary member.  Since 1976 he has been Fellow of the International College of Angiology Organization. He is also co-founder, member and former president of the “Societa’ Italiana Microchirurgia” (SIM), member and councilor of “Societa’ Italiana Endocrino Chirurgia” (SIEC), member and “revisore dei conti” of “Societa’ Italiana Chirurgia” (SIC); member and councilor of “Societa’ Italiana Chirurgia Oncologica” (SICO), member of the “Societa’ Italiana Chirurgia Testa e Collo” (SICTC), member and vice-president of the “Societa’ Italiana Chirurgia Endoscopica”, member and councilor of the “Societa’ Romana di Chirurgia”; member and councilor of “Fondazione Europea Dragan”, member of the “Societa’ Italiana Chirughi Universitari” (SICU); member of the “Societa’ Italiana Endoscopia Digestiva” (SIED); member of “Ordine dei Medici e chirurghi di Roma”, member and councilor of the “Società Italiana Chirurgia Ambulatoriale e Day Surgery” (SICADS) member of “European Endoscopic Society” (EEAS).

He is author of more than 300 international publications and Scientific Supervisor of three project funded FILAS in 2009-2011.
